Vatche G. Agopian, MD

Mentor

Dr. Vatche Agopian is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of  Liver and Pancreas Transplantation, Department  of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles. He currently serves as the Director of the Core Surgery Residency Program and Associate Director of the General Surgery Residency Program at UCLA. His clinical practice is focused exclusively on liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery, and he has developed an active research program focusing on the care and treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, where liver transplantation is the gold-standard curative therapy. He serves on the editorial board of 2 scientific
journals, including Liver Transplantation where he has recently taken on the role of Associate Editor. Dr. Agopian has developed an extensive clinically-annotated database of the largest single-center experience of liver transplantation for HCC, and has recently initiated a multicenter national HCC consortium to continue to examine issues related to liver transplantation and hepatocellular carcinoma.
